A prototype of a phonograph’s potential modern function was fabricated based on the original Edison Wax Cylinder design. The wheel was coated with wax, picking up the remants and grooves of it’s previous location. The needle placed against the wheel allowed instant playback, as the user navigates in space with the device.
The needle was connected to a pre-amplifier, allowing an amplification and an interpretation of the marks along the wax surface
